ADVISING
Advising is an important part of a successful learning experience. It is an on-going and purposeful process that addresses the overall quality of a student’s experience and encompasses areas that impact student success. Academic advising includes a continuum of services, which range from exploring career and life goals to scheduling classes.
What
is the difference between an Advisor, a Faculty Advisor and a Faculty Counselor?
Academic
advisors work in the Student Entry and Advising Center or with other programs
such as Workforce Development to assist new students with their first quarter at
Olympic College.
Faculty advisors are full-time faculty members who advise students majoring in specific disciplines or technical areas of study.
Counseling faculty offer career and personal guidance and support. They help students who are undecided about their major area of study and who are exploring education and career options.

Requirements
Students taking more
than seven credits and who do not have thirty credits on their Olympic College
transcript, must consult with an advisor, either in person or online to plan
their course of study and to obtain a signature or Personal Identification
Number (PIN), which allow them to register. The PIN will allow access to
touch-tone or web registration.
